An opportunity exists for a highly experienced Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering, Reporting and Governance team within 7-Eleven’s Insights Centre of Excellence division. Reporting to the Head of Data Engineering, Reporting and Governance, this role is a key member of the team responsible for supporting and enhancing our new Enterprise Data Platform, to help deliver value to the business through the ongoing use of this new strategic asset.
Duties & responsibilities include
  • Building solutions that utilise data pipelines to provide actionable insights into operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
  • Supporting business stakeholders, SMEs, project teams and business analysts with design, development, and solution management.
  • Developing, managing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for cloud-hosted systems and applications.
  • Performing work on relevant Incident, Problem, and Change dockets within Service Management systems according to ITIL principles.
  • Collaborating with SAP and non-SAP technical teams for technical specifications and support for integrations.
  • Being accountable for working with third party vendors to ensure they are delivering agreed outcomes and solving issues in a timely manner.
Your experience
Our ideal candidate will be tertiary qualified within an IT related discipline and have demonstrated success in a similar role. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to develop strong working relationships cross functionally, as well as with external vendors.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
  • Significant hands-on experience in cloud-based platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience working with Azure resources, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
  • Advanced SQL understanding, with extensive experience developing data intensive solutions.
  • Solid experience in at least one programming language (preferably Scala, Java or Python)
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling techniques
  • Strong understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and IaC.
  • Knowledge of Power BI is desired, but not essential
